Experience the wonders of the Amazon rainforest with our expert guides on this unforgettable eco-tourism adventure. Starting in the jungle town of Puerto Maldonado, our staff will meet you upon arrival and accompany you on a fascinating 68-kilometer road and boat trip along the Tambopata River to our Ecolodge (23 km by vehicle, 45 km by boat). With virgin rainforest surrounding you, you’ll have the opportunity to observe native flora and fauna along the way, making this river journey a highlight of your tropical forest ecosystem experience.
Once you arrive at our eco-lodge and settle into your accommodation, one of our experienced naturalist guides will take you on a trail walk through the surrounding forest. You’ll encounter giant brazil nut trees, brown capuchin monkeys, agoutis, blue-morpho butterflies, trogons, toucans and other bird species. After a delicious box lunch aboard our boat, we’ll provide an informative slideshow presentation that will introduce you to the many wonders of the rainforest. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a fantastic buffet-style dinner before embarking on a guided trail walk in the forest. You’ll learn about the Amazon’s nocturnal monkey species and insects while enjoying the unique sounds of the nighttime forest.
A Paradise for Birdwatchers and Nature Lovers Wake up to an excellent buffet breakfast before setting out on a forest trail to explore Condenado oxbow lake by canoe. Wetlands are among the best places in the forest for birdwatching and observing a variety of aquatic and terrestrial fauna. Along the trail, you’ll encounter the strangler fig tree and the mighty kapok, which rises high above the forest canopy. After a superb buffet lunch in our restaurant, you’ll have free time for independent walks on our extensive trail system, exploring our gardens, or bathing in our nearby swimming hole, where you can enjoy the clear cool waters of Gallocunca stream. Alternatively, you can simply choose to relax in a hammock on the porch of your cabin.
In the evening, we’ll provide a buffet dinner before your guide gives a presentation on the species of caiman found in the forests of Tambopata. Then we’ll take to the river in search of caimans and other nocturnal rainforest species that fill the tropical forest night air with their sounds.
A Magical Farewell to the Amazon Forest Your stay in the Amazon forest ends with a magical morning return by river for your flight from Puerto Maldonado. This is an excellent time of day for wildlife observation, as the forest awakens.
